Step 1: Make a Circle
Select the Ellipse Tool.
To make a perfect circle, hold Shift while clicking and dragging.
Place the circle in the center of the document.
These snapping lines should appear to help you. If you don’t see the snapping lines, click on the magnet icon at the top of the screen to turn Snapping on.
Step 2: Make the Object for Duplication
You can duplicate any shape around a circle. For this example, select the Triangle Tool.
Click and drag to make a triangle. Then use the Move Tool to place the triangle above the circle.
Step 3: Change the Rotation Point
Right now, if you rotate the triangle, it will rotate around itself, not the circle. To change its rotation point, press on the crosshair icon in the Context Toolbar.
Now you can see the triangle’s rotation point, which is in the center of the triangle.
To move the rotation point, click and drag on the crosshair. Move the crosshair to the center of the circle.
Now, when you rotate the triangle, it rotates around the circle.
Step 4: Duplicate Around the Circle
To duplicate the triangle, press Ctrl + J (PC) or Command + J (Mac).
While holding Shift, rotate the triangle 30 degrees.
Now continue duplicating the triangle around the circle, using Ctrl + J (PC) or Command + J (Mac).
Each duplicate copy will rotate an additional 30 degrees.
Once you’re finished duplicating, feel free to delete the circle if you no longer want it.
Now you know how to duplicate an object around a circle. 😊
