Affinity Collage Templates

After downloading my collage templates, refer to this article to import them into Affinity.

Once that’s finished, follow these steps to make your very own collage! 😊

Open a Template

Open the File Menu, and select “New”.

Go to “Templates” and choose whichever collage you want to use.

Add Photos

Open the File Menu, and select “Place”. Choose the photos you want to add (you can select more than one photo.)

Click & drag to add each image to your document.

Place the Photos into Frames

To place a photo in a frame, make it a “child layer”. To do this, place the photo’s layer on top of the frame’s layer.

Adjust the Frame Borders

All of the frames have a thick white border, but you can easily change this.

  1. Select all of the frames in the Layers Panel.
  2. Click “FX” at the bottom of the Layers Panel.
  3. Select “Outline” (near the top-left of the window).
  4. Change the border’s color and “Radius” (its thickness).

Resize the Photos

When resizing the photos, make sure you have the photo selected, not the frame selected.

To do this, open the frame’s group in the Layers Panel and select the photo’s layer.

Or if you have the Move Tool out, you can double-click on the photo from within the document.

Remove the Border (optional)

If you don’t want the border along the edges of the collage, turn off the “Border” layer. Then select all the other layers, and make them slightly bigger.

As you make the layers bigger, hold down these keys:
PC: Ctrl + Shift
Mac: Command + Shift

Holding Shift will prevent the frames from becoming distorted, and Ctrl/Command will resize everything from the center of your document.

Resize the Document (optional)

You can easily resize any of the collages.

  1. Open the Document Menu, and select “Resize Document”.
  2. Click the chainlink icon in the middle of the window to unlock the document’s width & height.
  3. Enter your desired size. For example, you could enter 3000 x 2000 pixels if you want a collage that will be printed as a 3 x 2 photo.

Just make sure you resize the document before you add your photos. Otherwise, your photos will become distorted.

Note: Templates “1” and “2” are the only templates with a “center” frame. This frame can become distorted after resizing the document, so you may need to adjust it afterwards. All the other templates should resize without any issue.
